Karlstad municipality’s city center should be for all Karlstad residents and be both a meeting point for residents and a place where you can get your needs met. For this to be possible, we need a broad and varied downtown trade. We need a wide range of culture and several different opportunities for activities and entertainment.
It should be a pleasant place that is sustainable and benefits public health.

We want to:

• see an increased focus on our downtown retail and the possibility of a vibrant city center – instead of building more large retail areas
• develop and promote meeting places in the city center
• work for a more accessible city centre via bus, walking and cycling
• ensure that Karlstad’s city centre is accessible for residents with disabilities – for example, through assistive devices in the urban environment for the visually impaired, hearing impaired and disabled
