Vänsterpartiet wants to prioritize and develop sustainable travel by foot, bicycle and bus throughout the municipality. By building good roads for cycling, residents get a natural element of movement in everyday life, which benefits health, while being more economically sustainable for the individual. With good opportunities for walking, more people will choose the walk, because it is smooth but also because it has a positive effect on well-being. Good public transport with comfortable buses is required so that even areas outside the urban area can choose climate-smart alternatives to the car.

We want to:

• have more express routes, with frequent departures all with the aim of facilitating travel by bus
• ensure that more exchange points are being built on Karlstad’s outskirts, with free commuter parking
• reduce car traffic in Karlstad’s central parts and we are positive about the construction of the new travel center
• try to introduce demand-responsive public transport in order to make the second car unnecessary for those who live outside the urban area.
• ensure that more resources are invested in bicycle and pedestrian paths, by maintaining and renovating and that walking and cycling paths are prioritized when new areas in the municipality are planned
